Getting in shape shouldn’t be a punishment. We have come to a point in our society where we want for little. Instant access to information, books, movies, songs, and even medical advice. This has been one of the greatest human achievements in my lifetime. Growing up in an age before tablets and touch screen phones allowed me to focus on playing different sports. Immigrating as a young child my English was quite terrible. Yet I could talk to others with the language of movement and sports. So I tried as many different sports as possible to meet new friends. Throughout my life, I had always tried to play sports to stay in shape and learn more about movement. Tennis, baseball, swimming, basketball, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai kickboxing and volleyball were all things I had tried to learn and compete in. Some more consistently than others. The last few years as a martial arts instructor has taught me the importance of freely moving the body. Some cannot do this as easily as I do. So teaching them the basic understanding of how to move, then into moving with a purpose. This is what I have tried to engrain in everyone I have met. So I continue to teach the practices imparted to me by all my coaches throughout the years. I hope that I can teach you this as well!
